The prologue was great, throwing the reader into the actual murder as it was (or wasn't happening). Then the next chapters focus on a group of rich kids who have just graduated, and their week long break at an old house on a private island.

I imagine it is being set up as an Agatha Christie type scenario - group of people, isolated place - and they are all going to be pretending to be in the 1920s.

There was something about the writing style that didn't grab me.
