The bright cover with photographic quality images of the main characters is a good idea. The story is well developed, well written, and pacy but not too fast. It is a good plot, a diverse group of young people only brought together because of school, and now, before the summer holidays and splitting up before University, go off to Sparrow Island where there is one house for a 1920s themed time together, when there is a murder. On the negative side, you have to put up with the Americanisms, and there are "forward and back" chapters, to tell you why some things are the way they are now. A common way of writing but not always popular. The scenario seems a little formulaic. A mixed group of people, containing black, white and Hispanic, and one gay young man. Isolated on a small island in a big strange house. Mobile phones sent to the mainland, so cut off as much as possible. So, good story, but lacks originality.
