A bit of a disappointment

I was really looking forward to reading this one. A group of people, cut off in a secluded location and a murder. I thought it had everything I love and would be a fresh, modern style whodunnit.

Unfortunately, the story just fell flat for me. The characters were all extremely unlikeable and the scenario didn’t feel right to me. The actions and dialogue didn’t feel realistically how teenagers would behave. (I find it highly unlikely that a group of teens would dress is period wear for an entire weekend and give up their phones!) I think that made it hard for me to connect and engage with any of the characters.

I did find the murder and subsequent answer to the mystery to be clever. There were plenty of shifty characters with motives leading us into red herrings. But it still wasn’t enough for me to enjoy the book as a whole.

I do love the front cover though, which is what first drew me to the book.
