This book has echos of classic murder mysteries. A group of people on an island, having a 1920s themed party when someone is murdered. A cast of characters who all have a motive. Secret passages and a number of unreliable narrators.
The book moves quickly and you are able to work with the detectives to try and work out who committed the crime.
There was an element of the story which I felt jarred a bit within the wider story and which wrapped things up a bit to neat. I do however realise that I am not the target audience and as such I come to this book with a bank of books which I can compare this mystery to. As such I found it lacking in some areas and a bit too neat in others. I do know however that the students I work with will enjoy this mystery and it will work well for fans of "One of us is lying". I will be recommending it to many students and if they enjoy it pointing them in the direction of the classic detective fiction.
