Although the murder doesn't suddenly happen - it's about a third of the way into the book, this was a great fun and easy read!
Set within a friendship group of mainly wealthy, over-privileged high school students and set in an old house on a private island, there was an unexpected Poirot feel to the story. As we learn more about the students celebrating their graduation, we learn how their relationships are all intertwined. It turns out each of them has a good reason to murder the victim and I found myself sympathising with everyone except the victim! Add in a vicious storm on the island, meaning the detectives and suspects are trapped in the house and we're firmly in Agatha Christie land! However it's the modern characters, straight out of an episode of Gossip Girl that got me hooked. Who doesn't like to see arrogant rich kids get their just desserts!
I truly didn't anticipate the reason for the murder or how the story would end. This was a very atmospheric and enjoyable read that I would happily recommend.
