I couldn't connect with any of the characters

I picked up this book hoping it would be similar to a Karen McManus book in that it is based around a group of teenagers about to finish high school. Unfortunately I found the scenario in this book extremely unlikely to actually happen in real life (unless I'm completely oblivious to how extremely wealthy teenagers are treated by their parents). It just seemed incredibly unrealistic that a group of teenagers who are about to finish high school would be able to rent a house which is a museum for a week and have one friend provide them with period clothing to wear for the entire week. I know when I was that age there is no way that would happen.

I struggled to keep track of who was who in the story, possibly because I just didn't connect with any of the teenagers due to their lives being so incredibly different from the real world that 99.9% of us live in.
