Thoroughly enjoyed this first few pages of Adlington's Summerland. FUll of mystery and intrigue, Brigitta, our main character, is a Red Cross refugee brought to England after WWII. She's clearly hiding something (a lot of things) and the book promises to be interesting. The descriptions of the struggles of Jews in hiding and the tragedy dropped throughout the book promise that this will be an emotional rollercoaster, but hopefully interspersed with moments of levity - like the thought that a brew and a biccie could be some kind of torture device! ;)
