'Summerland' seems like a thoroughly interesting novel, filled with gripping detail and a storyline which immediately has me hooked to read more. The mix of shorter sentences, rhetorical questions and descriptive language immediately causes the reader to question what will happen next and what has previously taken place for the protagonist, Bridget, to now be in England instead of her home country.

Overall, this book is definitely one I would recommend to those who love historical fiction and I will most certainly be recommending it to some of my family, even letting them borrow it if I won - which is a huge step considering I do not let anyone near my precious books ;)

Many thanks to Lucy Adlington for creating such a gripping novel from the very first page and I hope to read more to fulfil my interest. Considering this story is not one I would normally go for, I was completely, brilliantly surprised and I hope everyone else that reads 'Summerland' also has the same interest and excitement to read more.
