Firstly, the cover really appeals to me as I love the empty road ahead of her as it shows the idea of a new adventure. The planes in the corners really show the idea of WW2 being continuous fighting and how people have gotten used to it. The title “Summerland” May suggest more of a happy and optimistic theme even in a time of war but as the blurb states: Summerland has its own secrets.
I really like the idea of how each chapter is named after food that was very common back in the war. I also really like the idea of how the author combined really life events into an adventure. This really appeals to me as I absolutely love history and love hearing my grandparents talk about their own memories of the war. This will really let me understand the kind of experiences and feelings people felt during that time
