Wow!!! This is an impeccably written book. I was instantly drawn in from the first page...reading the experiences of war time from a child’s point of view, with every chapter came new details.
Just as you think the story is playing out a certain way for Briggita’s character a massive twist takes place that you would never have imagined.its full of mystery and you fall in love with Briggita,joe and Mrs rover I love that each chapter is named after a new food the child is experiencing and that ties in to the story.
A fantastic piece of writing with so much detail you actually imagine your there. It’s a page turner that you never want to stop experiencing. The feelings of loss,love,guilt,fear and anger accumulate into one intense read. It’s also a story of hope with a perfectly happy ending that your rooting for.
