From the opening chapter to the last Summer land was a great read it was courageous, witty, moving and set within a WWII English countryside brought the charming characters alive, the historical information was interesting and their story was a true reflection of how the world at this time presented many challenges, a real page turner even when the story ended I was left wanting more. A good story about believable people, combined with fascinating history and brilliantly accurate description.
The old fashioned memorable food chapter titles were clever and incorporating the food within the chapter was charming.
Would love to see a sequel to Summer land, would be love to see how the characters moved on post war.
