I'm not usually one to read historical or war themed fiction and I'd been putting off reading this book for quite a while but surprisingly I really enjoyed the story. It is interesting to follow Brigitta as she searches for answers and decides to take her own path after being made an orphan and refugee and I think what really made the story enjoyable was the courage and how likeable she is as a character. The book is really easy to read and it didn't take me long to get through it once I'd started. I think it is for a younger audience than myself but that didn't make it any less enjoyable. I've not read any of the authors other books but having read this one it makes me interested to know what else she has written that I might enjoy. This is a lovely book that is perfect if you like war themed stories or children's mysteries with a great character leading the story.
