To be honest, I didn't really understand the hype behind Lucy Adlington as I was never a fan of fiction stories set in the past - I know it's bad but I thought they were boring! Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised at how beautifully Adlington wrote and weaved the story into reality. I could literally picture everything she was writing about. The characters were also written with an attention to detail, which I loved too. The twist at the end was not expected at all! I literally had to put the book down and rethink everything I had been thinking because I kind of felt like I should have seen it before. Not the best book ever, but a lovely one nonetheless. Would recommend it a lot for young adults.
