I quite enjoyed this book, it didn’t blow me away but it was good!
I liked the characters particularly Sophie Rover and Joe, even Mrs Summer turned out to be a likeable character.
I thought the author did a good job at producing quite a sweet and uplifting story mixed with the dark horrors of the characters past. The twist was a bit of a shock, although in hindsight I should have seen it coming there were quite a few clever hints! At first I thought it was a bit far fetched but when I found out that some children actually did that it made it actually quite an interesting and powerful twist!
There were some elements I didn’t like however, mainly Brigitta’s confusion at most English saying and customs! I get that the character most likely would be unaccustomed to some ‘british things’ but it just felt a bit overkill and a bit annoying! I also felt the ending was a bit rushed, but over it was pretty good!
