This book follows Brigitta, a 15 year old Jewish refugee who's come over to England with the Red Cross. While the story details Brigitta's life in Austria, once she arrives in England we discover that she has a secret mission to complete! This story drew me in from the first page. I instantly felt a connection with Brigitta and rooted for her throughout the novel. The author had clearly put a lot of time into her research for this book, and it showed. The setting was incredibly vivid (I felt like I was in the story with Brigitta) and she explained aspects of the Second World War wonderfully.

As this is a coming of age story it would definitely appeal to young adults, however I also feel like it would appeal to anyone. The relationships between the characters, and the themes of injustice, prejudice and class difference made for an incredibly intricate read.
