Summerland by Lucy Adlington...I was really looking forward to reading this book but sadly it just wasn't quite what I expected it to be.
I have given it three stars as I do think the book was extremely well written and had a good plot.
There was lots of information on the way the war affected the population both in Britain and over the channel and the outcome for people like Brigitta.
The story is set in October 1946 and covers how The Red Cross escorted a group of child refugees from Europe to England.
Brigetta manages to run away with her few possessions, included in these is a glove which plays a big part in the story.
As you progress through the book towards the end it takes a very unexpected turn in events to product a totally unexpected ending.
