Given the author's background in several areas, including as a historical, the book she has created is believably real and you almost feel as if the main character is coming to life in the pages before you. The setting of wartime has always strongly appealed to me, and I love learning about the era and how it affected ordinary people. The protagonist being a young girl really resonated with me, and for those of us born after the war years we cannot fully appreciate the horrors of war and what these children especially must have been going through. The mystery of the white glove in her suitcase adds intrigue to the story and brings it about the usual books of its kind. Everything about the book and its design speaks to me and I'd love to seek out more of the author's work. A talented lady all round.
