This book was a pleasure to read, it was in equal part emotional and intriguing. The layers of depth under the simplicity of writing was cleverly done. It was a book I read in few sittings which was in itself a pleasure. I felt neither rushed nor delayed by the pace of the plot. The characters were well rounded and developed allowing a genuine empathy between protagonist and reader. Several intensive and incredibly important issues are addressed in this story which is a brave move for a book billed as Young Adult. It’s educational without loosing its appeal. Relationships between strangers and the kindness or not of said strangers highlights the inconsistencies of human nature cleverly addressing fundamentals gracefully. Although I would say it’s not the best book I have read recently it was a good read that I would recommend gladly.
