A YA book that works for adults too! I really enjoy historical fiction but haven't read very many that show the aftermath of the Second World War so that made a nice change. It's the story of Brigitta, a refugee that the Red Cross have brought to the UK to start a new life, and follows her in the journey sher undertakes. But is everything as it seems? A slight and easy read, this book is a great weekend read. The writing is great, and the characters are engaging. You want a happy ending for them all, and hope that it works out for them. It is an effective balance of difficult elements and uplifting moments. It makese lots of pertinent points about the way we treat refugees in the twenty first century as well.
