I was a bit skeptical about the plot at first, because I think the whole thing of being in the afterlife and needing to move on, and that kind of stuff is a bit overdone but also very cliche and can be done badly.
But, I get the feeling this is going to be different. This isn't a story where it's got to work to get you hooked - a few pages in and there's already so much emotion, so many questions, so many possible answers, drama, and cliffhangers, that I can tell it's the type of book I would rattle through at a speedy pace.
Character wise, I'm not sure about Lily. Should I let her off the hook a little because she's just found out she'd dead? Probably. At the minute she seems a little reductive and repetitive, but I'm willing to keep an open mind about her. As a whole, I'm excited to read more, and can tell it's going to be a very emotional read.
