I really enjoyed this debut from Caz Frear.
Billed as a crime thriller, it wasn't quite what I expected, and yet delivered so much more. At the heart is a 'whodunnit' murder but that is almost the incidental part of the book. Caz has a great ability to build memorable characters. I think everyone we are introduced to is so well fleshed out that they could appear in another of her books and you'd feel like you were catching up with an old friend.
I think at the heart, this is a book about family dynamics, secrets kept and a question of how well you really know those you love and thought you could trust.
I wouldn't say it had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, but it is a steady and captivating read, leading to a crescendo ending!
