This book took me quite a while to get in to at first. Kat is a police officer who is first on the scene of a murdered woman. A man comes forward and identifies her as his wife, however the police keep hitting dead ends when trying to find some form of motive or link to her murder.

Kat secretly suspects her dad of being involved as the body is found not fart from the pub that he runs. Every few chapters it jumps back to the 90s when Kat and her family were away visiting extended family in Ireland and a young girl went missing. Kat had given her a necklace that she liked which was later found in the back of her dads car. Since then Kat suspected that he had something to do with her disappearance.

Another man comes along and identifies the murdered woman as his sister, who happens to be the girl that went missing in Ireland. Turns out she left on her own merit to go to England to get an abortion and took up a new identity.

Kat follows the evidence behind her superiors backs and it eventually leads her to her dad, where she finds out exactly how he has been involved in the whole mess.

Although it took me some time to get in to this book, i couldn't put it down. It is full of twists and turns and there was no way I would have expected the story to go the way it did.
