Twist after twist. Tick.
This author writes punchy and smart conversations, which effortlessly move the novel along. Her narrator is sharp and quick witted, and how on earth does she come up with some of those fabulous descriptions?
I liked Cat and Parnell’s relationship, it works well. Often in these sort of novels the detectives characters feel secondary to the plot, it felt good to have some personal reactions to horrible situations.
We are carried along with Cat, thinking we have answers but time and again, assumptions are proved wrong.
The story poses some interesting questions about trust, our childhood memories, and different interpretations of the same facts- what will turn out to be the truth?
Read it and see- it is no surprise that this has been picked up by Richard & Judy, as a debut novel it is impressive.
