Sweet Little Lies by Caz Frear is a daunting crime thriller that won Richard and Judy's find a bestseller award. It follows the story of Cat, a murder investigation detective with serious mental health issues and a problem past. She thinks her dad may be involved in a series of murders and her morals collide over the thought. I have to say the entire book sounded amazing and the cover is divine and I couldn't wait to start this title. It would have been a good one too if it wasn't for the weirdly adolescent and angsty narrative.

I was completely let down by Cat's character. She annoyed me instantly with her immature whining and crass comments and really, adolescent angst. The plot line was a good one but I can never enjoy a book that has an MC that I hate so the book was completely ruined for me. I only got partway through before DNFing it.

I would recommend it still because as I say, the plot was good. Other readers may not find Cat as repulsive as I did either, I just couldn't get on with her attitude.
