Originally I felt that the introduction gave the book a very juvenile feel but as I kept reading I learnt that while yes lots of it is simplified it's done in such a way that sucks you into the history and foods without confusing you. I LOVE the illustrations it's one of my favourite parts of this book so far. Also, the idea of it in the first place to have a book that focuses on several dishes around the world and how to make them while talking about the history and cultural significance behind them is something I haven't seen before.
