This is a large book, not in the usual sense of a recipe/cook book having many pages, but in the dimensions. It's a very tall book which might be difficult for some kitchens with little shelving or storage. We are keeping our copy in a bedroom as a reference book.

There is a lot of information and detail about countries, cultures and food. I think this book might be one to keep as children grow up, it's very busy and younger children will probably lose interest unless actively making the recipes.

There are some less familiar cuisines to explore, arguably some of the recipes are not so typical of the regions, but the book does explain there are a variety of popular and less well-known dishes described. As my child goes through food tech sessions at school and continues to try new dishes we will bring this book out to learn more about how people eat and the joy of food.
