Tall Oaks is a beautifully written suspenseful thriller by a very talented author. It is the story of a missing child in a small town filled with interesting and intriguing characters. This book follows several different characters but Whitaker brings an individual voice to every single one of them. The plot never feels convoluted and everything comes together in an intelligent and shocking conclusion.
The author is so good at bring moments of real humour despite there being a darkness running through the novel. He creates characters that are easy to fall in love with in some cases and empathise with in others. The writing is clever and smooth and will leave the reader completely gripped by this story. I would read anything by this author.
