The disappearance of a small boy/a town where everyone has secrets is a well worn path but this Fargo/Vernon God Little mash up is a pretty decent addition....yes, some characters and their stories are a little formulaic - but they are well fleshed out and easy to bring to life in the minds eye, and there's an over-abundance of happy endings for most.......I would have preferred a few of the threads to remain at least only loosely tied...it was all a little neatly finished - It felt a little like the author felt the need to give every thread to the plot a definitive ending. But this is a good summer read, there are darker, sadder aspects, but enough lighter moments to balance itself out....and a good twist to drop your jaw to.
