A really intriguing start to the book! You first get introduced to Dan who you learn has amnesia which has affected his relationship with him wife so they are spending some time apart. He doesn't remember about his past job, so when his boss from MI5 appears he feels obliged to listen to him and go to Moscow, despite not working for them anymore. You then start to learn about Lucy, a police officer who worked closely with Dan and appears to have saved his life previously. She is dealing with a well known petty criminal on the verge of shop lifting when she gets a call about a shooting.
The extract ends there which just makes me want to read on and find out who has been shot and why! This book is brilliantly written and one I would like to read completely.
