I should start by saying, in all fairness, this is not my usual choice of genre. I am early 40s and happily married to the father of my child and have no desire to relive my lost youth vicariously through literary figures. My days of throwing up in the back of a taxi are long behind me

That said, if this is your cup of tea then I imagine it ticks a lot of boxes. It’s straight in there with the dilemma, quickly establishes the trope and lead character, and uses a very relaxed and conversational tone.

I give it a solid “if that’s what floats your boat” 4 stars
