I hardly know where to start.

I didn’t like this book but I found it unnervingly compelling reading. I liked the concept of the story, just not the way it was told.

It was presented as “a smart, high concept love story”.
The cover boasts a quote which says “as hilarious as it is heartwarming”.
For me it was a horror story.

The characters and their lifestyles are completely alien to me, and there is a generation gap, but that shouldn’t detract from a good, well written story. I think the story is a good one but the way it was told failed to engage me.

There was too much unnecessary detail for me – too many lists for one thing – too much padding.

Maybe the book was mis-sold to me. I was hoping for an insight into modern day dating, instead I got what some critics are hailing as a dazzling satire. Perhaps one has to have experienced modern dating to appreciate the satire.

Thank you to Readers First, Corvus and Tory Henwood Hoen for the ARC in return for my honest review.
