Thank you so much Readers First & Corvus books for my giveaway win!

I'm so disappointed! I thought the concept of this story was brilliant with great potential and I was so excited to read it but unfortunately it wasn't for me.

On the first impressions I thought Ursula was a funny quirky character but as you go further into the book it is more like "not like other girls" kind of vibe which is strange since she is supposed to be a feminist. I found that I didn't really form a connection with any of the characters and the connection between Ursula and Rafael just didn't work for me.

I was also really looking forward to the feminist led aspect of the story because I think that there is some really great commentary to be made especially in the romance genre however it fell flat for me. It felt more like a "girlboss"/white woman feminism approach that was being promoted which was sad. There was no intersectionality or any of the ideals that feminists are trying to actually promote. Instead Rafael just makes a comment on how she doesn't wear makeup/doesn't look like she wears makeup which is something that really gets my goat.

Additionally, there could have been a really great Black Mirror style commentary that could've been made in the book when it comes to the money aspect of the ARC however it unfortunately just came off as a bit pretentious and elitist. I think the author was trying to push the feminist aspect of it and that was why women payed less than men for the privilege of the dating match to account for the wage gap however it actually kind of just alienates the common reader. Personally for me as a feminist it doesn't matter that the program costs 40,000 dollars instead of 50,000 because like many others I haven't got that kind of money at the drop of a hat where it doesn't matter and I can't get a random side hustle that will give me 100,000 dollars to cover the costs. Again it ties into my point of intersectionality and context.

Also I found that there were a lot of random long tangents that didn't really add to the story. I found myself skipping over pages of unnecessary information that made the pacing really slow and a struggle to get through.

I really thought this was going to be one I loved but it just wasn't for me! Thank you so much for my giveaway win!
