When I first heard the premise of The Arc, I was immediately intrigued as I love books based around the idea of scientific ways to find "the one". I was hoping for a romance version of The One by John Marrs and whilst that is sort of what I got, I was mostly dissapointed.
I found the romance to be unconvincing and stale and that's before you find out that it was all a set up and they were never meant to have been put together. I didnt like the main character and the way she seemed to think she was perfect but noone else could ever be, setting your self up for failure from the start much?
There was also something about the app used to match you to your closest perfect for you partner that I just didn't believe and found a bit creepy as it involved people that didn't necessarily sign up for the service.
All in all I was expecting a smart and sexy swoony romance but what I got was a mediocre romcom that didn't have much rom or com in it as far as I was concerned. However I will keep an eye out for my books by this author in the hopes that her execution gets better as the idea was excellent.
