So much potential
I am torn on this as the book started out as a strong 4/5 but by the end it had slipped to a 3/5.
Ursula is looking for love and signs up to Arc, a romance architecture company that uses a secret process to match people with 'The One'. This costs $40500 for women and $50000 for men.
Through the process she is matched with Rafael and they fall in love immediately. So far so good.
I was waiting for the twist where we found out what nefarious games Arc were playing, and having watched The One TV series I was interested to see how the author would play this.
And this is where is failed for me as there was no real twist. Even up to the last paragraph, I was hoping for something.
The other thing that didn't quite sit with me was the constant reminding that Ursula was a 'feminist' even though none of her actions suggested this. This aspect felt clunky and unbelievable.
In general the book was well-written, but I didn't particularly warm to the characters other than Mallory - and the lack of any major plot twist made it all feel a little flat.
