When I first saw this book I thought it looked amazing! I'm a big fan of a crime/mystery novel and loved the inclusion of social media and the arts. I loved how the author created the relationships between characters and found myself warming to the lead character DI Archer. Unfortunately the praise ends there.
I was disappointed with the lack of victim empathy throughout the novel. I found the focus being on a secondary storyline about DI Archers past which was never properly explained or explored?
Finally I found the plot predictable. I had guessed the ending about half way through and even the curve balls that were thrown in were predicable.
Overall I would give the book 3/5. Although aspects of the writing and plot were indicative by incorporating the world of social media it was too predicable for me. I also think a prequal would be useful to further explore DI Archers childhood and early experiences.
