I enjoyed this book, it was fast paced from start to finish, and while there were a number of popular thriller tropes (the haunted DCI, the charismatic stranger) this never reached the level of cliche. The plot was interesting, the idea of a killer who believes himself to be an artist was written so well as to be wholly convincing. The characters supporting the protagonist were also well written, the charming Irishman Quinn and the transgender IT expert Klara were believable and sympathetic. What made this thriller most memorable was the stark warning about social media and the way in which being connected can make us vulnerable. I had never really thought about how much information is put out there, even without realising it through being tagged online. I can’t think of another novel that has so influenced my social media habits, and I am grateful to the author for that!
