Christina Patterson's memoir made me feel grateful and happy that all the awful things that she has endured in her life have never happened to me.
She talks honestly, about mental health, relationships, childlessness, poor health including cancer, job loss, grief and money worries. Despite all this she seems to be surrounded by love, laughter and true friends.
Some of the people she has met and talked about in her book are well known and some are not. They merit a place in her book because of the things they have endured and how they have dealt with adversity.
I loved her candour and wit. She still holds resentment about the way she was made redundant from The Independent and has not forgiven those involved. This is not a self help book - it is a book that Christina has written about how she dealt with all the adverse things which have happened to her.
