I am already really deeply invested in this story, which shouldn't be possible within the first thirty pages, but it's happened. I love the internal monologue aspect, it is such a great insight into the thoughts and feelings of the main character. You can feel her panic, her fear, and it makes the reader that little bit more emotionally attached to her. It's easy to feel as though you know her, and are sharing her burden as she returns to the place she hasn't visited in years to see her family in the midst of a crisis.

I feel that I need to continue reading, not only to find out whether those who have been shot survive, or to discover what events occurred to cause this tragedy, but also to be alongside Robin, like her shadow, and witness her emotions and thoughts throughout the rest of the story.
