I get the impression that Robin and her family are best avoided as they seem such unattractive characters in a hopeless situation that would be frustrating to read about. As she is a therapist I would expect that Robin would have some sort of supervisor she could confide in, but she seems to be struggling with anxiety and various issues arising out of family relationships all on her own, not asking for the help she clearly needs.
