The opening chapters of this book have me hooked and ready to read more. A nervy therapist with strained family relationships that would rival any soap opera situation, is coming to terms with her own marital breakdown when she receives bad news from her estranged sister about their father being shot.
I want to read on. Not only for the interesting opening, by for the author’s reputation. I’ve only read one Joy Fielding before (The Deep End) years ago, but it has stuck with me over the years as a good read so I’m expecting a gripping storyline here too.
I’m expecting a domestic drama with some elements of suspense or thriller. The protagonist so far is interesting; a self sufficient therapist who suffers panics attacks. Worried (paranoid) about lack of affection from her husband and with a difficult sibling relationship. Will she be able to hold it together and come out the other side stronger? I’m expecting something along these lines and encouraged to read on.
