This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I love psychological thrillers and mysteries so I was very thankful to the publishers for sending this one my way.

I found this story quite gripping from the outset and hats off to the author for covering a whole range of real life problems throughout the book, such as family relationships and mental health to addiction & murder!

The story is is set in a small town in the states, with a community of busy bodies ready to stir up trouble at any moment.
Robin, the main character of this novel has had to return to her hometown from LA where she practices as a therapist and lives with her partner,Blake.
When she arrives there’s a whole lot of things to deal with ...a tragic event has taken place which involves her estranged family and one of her closest friends (a friend she no longer get along with and hasn’t spoken to in years...for good reason!)

Even though Tobin is a therapist and seems to have the ‘perfect fancy life’ she also battle lbs with daily panic attacks, which she tried to keep quiet. From having suffered from these issues myself, I think the author done a fantastic job at portraying just how debilitating anxiety and panic attacks can be and how much it affects their daily lives.

I loved the deep hidden secrets and mysterious goings on in this novel and there were characters that I both loved and hated!
The sister Melanie being one I couldn’t stand. She treats both her sister and her brother horribly, but as things progressed I came to understand why she was that way.

Although this thriller/mystery was enjoyable and I couldn’t put it down, I do have a few issues with it. Silly things like after being shot and on deaths door..why two or three days later that same someone would be able to run up the stairs stomp and in a mood and slamming doors..? It’s just not possible.
And why would police officers (who were guarding the house for good reason) leave a 12 year old kid home alone ...? A few unbelievable things like that let the book down a bit. And I did guess ‘who dun it’ very early in the story .
But all in all I can say that I enjoyed it. Definitely worth picking up. I’ll be reading more from this author on the future!
A good 3.5 ⭐️/5
