The Bastille Spy by CS Quinn gets off to a great start, immediately gripping the reader in a very unconventional story of the illegitimate daughter of an English lord and an African woman working as an English spy in the 18th century. The main character, Attica Morgan, is an enthralling character and her exploits make gripping reading. This is such an unusual premise but very readable. In the first few chapters she is involved with the escape of a French prisoner from Russia, releasing numerous slaves at the same time, kills a Cossack then returns to England. This book sets off at a cracking pace and I'm very much looking forward to reading the rest of Attica Morgan's exploits. This book will appeal to all readers of adventure stories and historical novels.
