This is the first time I have come across a book by C S Quinn although I am a big fan of historical fiction, particularly, C J Sansom and Robert Harris.
I found this extract easy to read and enjoyed the sassiness of the main character, Attica.
Already this extract has educated me by linking some of the events of World History - placing this story at the time of slavery, the French Revolution, Queen Anne's reign in Britain and Katherine the Great's in Russia and the first balloon flights.
The picture on the cover shows the storming of the Bastille with blood spatters and is in typical sepia tones.
