This little extract of "The Bastille Spy" was a bit different from what I expected for the introduction, but I was pleasantly surprised. I believe it sets the tone well.
I found that there was a lot of description, which I enjoy for the introduction. However, if it is overdone all throughout the book, it may be a bit overwhelming.
The introduction of a mixed-race character in high society is always a tricky thing, but I look forward to seeing how it is done. I also really enjoyed the commentary on gender roles and the funny quotes Attica provided.
To sum it up, this book has made quite a few promises in this introduction that I am very interested in.
