This book is the first in a series featuring English secret agent, Attica Morgan.
Attica is the half-caste daughter of an English lord and an African princess. She has an incredible background as a slave and trained assassin amongst other things. In 1789 she is sent to Paris just as the French Revolution is beginning and encounters several historic characters including Robespierre and the Marquis de Sade.
The story appears to me to be a tongue in cheek James Bond spoof with daring and incredible, skin of your teeth, exploits and last second escapes from danger by innovative methods.
The setting is a time of obscene wealth, debauchery and desperate poverty. Slavery and political espionage appear to be well described and historically accurate. However, the exploits of Attica and her sidekick, former pirate Jemmy, defy belief and I couldn't really take the book seriously.
