Set during the French Revolution, this novel follows English spy Attica Morgan as she travels to Paris on the trail of missing jewels. Nothing is as it seems, and Attica finds herself embroiled in investigating a murder and trying to save someone close to her, all the while playing a cat and mouse game with the mysterious antagonist Robespierre.

This was a fun read for me overall. A lot of research went in to adding historical detail to the novel, which I appreciated. The references to current events, attitudes and customs of the times kept me relatively immersed. The novel was fast-paced, with short chapters and consistent action to keep the reader entertained throughout.

However I simply could not connect to Attica as a main character. The amazingly skillful, outcast from society assassin with a tragic backstory who can easily overcome any foe she encounters by killing them or outwitting them with ease is something that I have seen one too many times. I thought Grace was written much better, and it's a shame we didn't get more chapters with her.
