The Bastille Spy by C S Quin is a terrific adventure story set at the time of the French Revolution. The main character is Attica Morgan, the Anglo/African daughter of a Lord who is a British spy. Her main interest lies in rescuing people destined for slavery however she is obliged to carry out other duties for the government. In this story she sets off for France to release Garspard de Mayenne from the Bastille, a man she previously rescued from imprisonment in Russia. Attica's cousin, Grace, has also been sent to France to carry out a mission and Attica needs to find her and ensure her safety and return to England to get married. Attica is aided throughout her adventures in France at a particularly dangerous time in the country's history by Jemmy Avery, possibly a privateer or a pirate or perhaps he also works for the government. This is a thoroughly enjoyable book and I'm sure will be enjoyed by many readers. Hopefully the author will write more of Attica Morgan's adventures.
