The Bastille Spy was a change from my usual choice of reading! I read the odd historical fiction but not masses. This appealed to me as it featured a strong female lead in a dangerous time period. I have also enjoyed newspaper pieces by CS Quinn. There is a lot to love about this book. Short chapters keep it pacey and lure you into “just one more” chapter before bed/ work/ etc. The settings are described in beautiful detail without being over the top and unnecessarily drawn out. Attica is an excellent lead and more than holds her own throughout. I think this series will hold a lot of appeal and I could see it making a decent tv series! Looking forward to the next episode. Don’t be put off by the genre - it is an excellent read!
