Attica Morgan was brought up on a plantation but is the daughter of an English Lord who has found herself working for the Society of the Secret Knot – a collection of outcasts of society who defend England through the use of espionage. Attica generally works on her own and has a tendency to act without thinking through the political costs of her actions. As a consequence her uncle, Lord Pole, wishes to use her skills in a more feminine way by marrying her off to someone who will provide her with entry into foreign courts.
Attica has no wish to marry and resents finding herself shackled to the whims of Lord Pole especially as he has now decreed that she should be sent to France to assist in recovering Marie Antoinette that her cousin has been carrying to the French rebels. Added to this she soon finds that she has been assigned a fellow intriguer to assist her in her mission. France is not all she remembers and as tension and terror grow she finds her life and that of her cousin at risk as she crosses paths with Robespierre.
A well developed and excitingly paced adventure which is bound to lead to a second instalment as the character of Attica has scope for development.
