Revolutionary Spy
Firstly, to be honest, this book was not one I would normally choose. Although I like historical fiction, I think I would have been put off by the cover and sheer size of the book if I was choosing in a bookshop.
However, surprisingly I enjoyed this tale of Attica, an English spy who in turn for a pardon starts to investigate a murder within revolutionary France. The story was fast-paced and I quickly became embroiled in the plot. I particularly liked the rich research that had gone into building up the background. I felt this really added to the atmosphere of how life in that time would have been.
My only negative about the book was its size - it could have been cut down to two thirds of the size and still retained its impact and storyline.
